Filmmakers Workshop

Supporting the work of independent filmmakers

Dear FMWS readers

I've been doing some research regarding DVD replication and thanks to folks who have been kind enough to respond.

I wanted to go local but no one could come close to the vendor I finally chose in San Francisco. If people are making a decision soon they may want to check them out. He provided a couple of references who had no problems. The contact is info

The price for 1K DVD5's bulk, no cases, no shipping was $500. They come packaged in non spindled containers wrapped in 100 DVD lots. No one came close to this number. For another $150 they would print all the slip covers and for .$20 a piece I can buy black Amaray covers that includes shipping from another vendor. That means for 85 cents I can have all the elements of my DVD. I just need to assemble them when needed.

I like this approach. I don't have to store 1000 DVD in their cases, I don't really need shrinkwrapping and I'm sure like many of us, space is an real issue. I can just buy 50 or 100 cases when I want and fill orders as they come along. It's more labor but 85 cents or so is a great price.

The order is not filled so the verdict is out. We'll see how many returned dvd's I get, and how well the art is reproduced, etc. I'll keep you posted.

best,

Henry
