Filmaka.com just posted their next contest! They're looking for
pitches for a web series about people and their cars. You submit a
detailed written synopsis of a film 3 to 5 minutes in length, with 4
or 5 more episode ideas intended to total around 30 minutes of
original webisodic content. Finalists receive $5000 each. General
Motors is sponsoring the contest and if they decide to produce final
pitches, they will fund the production. Filmaka.com will start
accepting submissions in the middle of next week and the contest
closes March 11. Details at: http://www.filmaka.com/gm/

Profile Information

City:
Brookline
Filmmaker? Genres you work in:
documentary, narrative, broadcast
About Me:
I'm a graduate of Boston College, where I majored in Film Studies. While there I graduated with Department Honors as well as the Costa-Gavras Social Justice award for my documentary work. I've picked up a few awards at some student film festivals but most of the work I've done has just been for fun. Check out some of my stuff on YouTube and you'll see what I'm talking about.

Current filmmaking concerns:
Wrapping up a thriller/horror short that's been in Post-Production for some time now as well as working on a documentary about a Holocaust survivor.
About my films:
I enjoy working either with very serious themes or outlandishly absurd ones (taken seriously). This lends itself to a pretty varied portfolio.
Books I'm reading:
The Road by Cormac McCarthy.
Films I love (or can't wait to see):
Shoot the Piano Player, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Halloween, Memento, Psycho, The Royal Tenenbaums, Bringing Up Baby, Finding Neverland, Cannibal: The Musical, Brazil, Amelie, City of God, The Third Man, Children of Men, Harold and Maude, The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, The Bird with the Crystal Plumage, Deep Red, No Country for Old Men
Television --the papers say its the golden age- you agree (or you don't!) because you watch.....
Family Guy & The Simpsons. That's about it. Does that make me a bad person?
