Filmaka.com just posted their next contest! They're looking for
pitches for a web series about people and their cars. You submit a
detailed written synopsis of a film 3 to 5 minutes in length, with 4
or 5 more episode ideas intended to total around 30 minutes of
original webisodic content. Finalists receive $5000 each. General
Motors is sponsoring the contest and if they decide to produce final
pitches, they will fund the production. Filmaka.com will start
accepting submissions in the middle of next week and the contest

About my films:
The Fishermen of Plum Island is a one-hour documentary film exploring the culture of fishing on Plum Island, Massachusetts. The barrier island, just off the coast of Newburyport, is one of the finest fishing locales in the Northeast and draws an exceptionally diverse group of people searching for Striped Bass, Bluefish, Cod, Flounder, Mackerel, and others.

The film will follow the fishing season from May through November and present interviews, photographs, and personal stories told by the fishermen themselves. Some of the topics covered are:
- History of fishing on the island
- Recreational fishing over eighty years
- The culture and obsession of fishermen
- Change of fish stocks

Producing the film is Plum Island resident, avid fisherman, and professional designer, Jim Waldron. Anyone interested in telling their story, lending materials, or introducing their favorite fishermen should contact the film office at the address here.

Reel People:Fishermen of Plum Island accepted at Woods Hole Film Festival

It's also showing June 5 and 6 at the Newburyport Firehouse Center for the Arts. I hope some of you might come.… Continue
