What if you got sick in Connecticut from pollution generated in Illinois? Wouldn’t you want to do something about that?
Every year thousands of Americans die from diseases related directly to emissions from coal-fired power plants. And yet most still don't think the threat is about them because they don’t know that the particulate pollution and harmful gases generated by one plant are blown hundreds of miles away and end up falling to the ground in another state--on “someone else’s” house.
The thing to understand about coal plant pollution is that we are all “someone else.” There is literally nowhere in the continental United States that is unaffected by this type of air pollution. It’s just a matter of degrees.
“The Dirty Truth About Coal” explains in detail how dirty the air you’re breathing really is, where that dirt is coming from, and what you can do to stop it.
